ingredients

  • 3 lb beef roast (cross-rib, rump, or eye of round)
  • 1 can beef consommé
  • 1 packet au jus mix
  • 1 packet Good Seasons Italian dressing mix
  • 1½ cups water
  • Hoagie buns
  • Sliced cheese (provolone or Swiss works great)
  • ________________

directions

  1. 1 Place beef roast in crockpot.
  2. 2 In a bowl, mix beef consommé, au jus mix, Italian dressing mix, and water.
  3. 3 Pour mixture over roast.
  4. 4 Cook on HIGH for 6–8 hours, or until the beef is tender and easily shreds.
  5. 5 Remove beef and shred with a fork.
  6. 6 Place shredded beef and cheese onto hoagie buns.
  7. 7 Broil until cheese is melted and bread is toasted.
  8. 8 Strain the cooking liquid and serve as au jus for dipping.
