sesame-ginger tri-tip steak

ingredients

  • 2 lb beef tri-tip
  • 4–6 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ tsp white pepper
  • ________________

directions

  1. 1 Trim excess fat from tri-tip.
  2. 2 In a bowl, combine all remaining ingredients (except green onions if using as garnish). Mix well.
  3. 3 Place tri-tip in a resealable bag and coat well with marinade. Refrigerate for 6–12 hours.
  4. 4 Preheat grill to medium heat.
  5. 5 Remove tri-tip from marinade and discard marinade.
  6. 6 Grill for 25–30 minutes, turning occasionally, until desired doneness.
  7. 7 Remove and let rest 5–10 minutes.
  8. 8 Slice against the grain, sprinkle with green onions, and serve.
